YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. On Septemer 8 the RA
National Assembly ratified the agreement signed in 2006-2007
between the RA ministry of finance and economy and the Asian
Development Bank on small-scale technical assistance for
organization of a feasibility study on the rural road
reconstruction program. According to the RA minister of
transport and communication Gurgen Sargsian, the small-scale
technical assistance amounts to 150 thousand dollars.
During a talk with NT correspondent, G. Sargsian said that
the major credit program financed by the Asian Development Bank
envisages repairs of a total of 220 km of 10 roads in Kotayk,
Ararat, Gegharkunik and Armavir marzes. The amount of the main
credit makes 30.6 million dollars.
The Asian Development Bank hired an advisor who has done
preparatory work on the credit allocation and the technical task
of the rural road reconstruction program, as a result of which
the indicated road sections have been included in the major
credit program financed by the bank. An additional sum of 150
thousand dollars has been allocated as a second technical
assistance, thanks to which the design work for reconstruction
of these roads was implemented.
The minister said that the implementation of the program
will be launched in the coming days, immediately after the start
of the financing. The main stages of the program's preparation
have been completed. There are some small technical problems
that are being agreed on with the Asian Development Bank at the
moment. It is planned to repair 109 km of road sections at the
first stage of the program. The program is envisaged to finish
in 2010.
