YEREVAN, JUNE 11, NOYAN TAPAN. System reforms should be
made in the state procurement system, the RA minister of finance
Tigran Davtian said at the National Assembly on June 11.
He attached importance to the introduction of an electronic
system of state procurement, for which funds have been allocated
by this year's budget. He expressed a hope that the electronic
system will be put into operation in early 2009.
In addition to introduction of an electronic procurement
system, the minister also considered it important to solve
problems related to the legislation, human resources, labor
organization and control. In order to bring the state
procurement system into line with average European standards, a
concept has been developed, and the first steps envisaged by
this concept are being taken.
T. Davtian informed those present that Armenia is joining
the respective agreement on procurement within the framework of
the World Trade Organization.
According to him, at the recent sitting the government
adopted the first package of the new order of activities of the
State Procurement Agency. The package envisages some stricter
rules and transparency of the agency's work.
