The «ArtԱրվեստ» cultural education development program has been launched, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia by the cultural NGO «Artprogress».

 

The program aimed at developing the professional skills of teachers from music, art, fine arts, and dance schools includes more than 150 schools from Yerevan and the regions, over 900 teachers, and more than 2600 students.

 

The launch of the program was announced at a press conference held at the Armenian State Philharmonic. The speakers at the conference included Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Daniel Danielyan, program director and director of the A. Babajanyan State Music College of Yerevan Artyom Harutyunyan, program coordinator and director of the R. Melikyan State Music College of Yerevan Varazdat Khachumyan, pianist, Honored Artist of Armenia, and invited expert of the program Hayk Melikyan, who presented the content of the event.

 

Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan welcomed the attendees and noted that the «ArtԱրվեստ» cultural education development program is of key significance and aims to improve the teaching skills of teachers from music, art, fine arts, and dance schools in Yerevan and the regions, foster professional growth, as well as discover and develop the talents of gifted children.

 

According to the Deputy Minister, this educational-methodological program has been implemented for years, but the effectiveness of its content has been reviewed, and the need for improvements has emerged as a result of analyses. For this purpose, a new organization, the «Artprogress» cultural NGO, has been selected through a competitive process to implement the program.

 

«All programs in culture and art must necessarily include an educational component, as there is no culture without education and no education without culture. This approach is one of the important targets of the ministry's strategy. By reviewing the previous program, a new methodology has been introduced, innovations have been implemented, new approaches to working with teachers have been developed, and new literature and guidelines have been introduced to strengthen the content of the program. The localization of foreign educational methodologies will also have a positive impact on improving and advancing children's cultural education,» the Deputy Minister stated, adding that the selected organization includes directors from two music colleges with extensive experience.

 

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the quality of teaching in different communities and regions should be studied as a result of monitoring, so that practical work can be carried out subsequently towards the implementation of the new methodology.

 

Daniel Danielyan also happily highlighted that similarly to the successfully implemented «300 schools and 500 kindergartens» program in the system of general and preschool education in recent years, the Government has initiated a new program for the renovation and reconstruction of 100 music, art, fine arts, and sports schools. Along with the building conditions, art schools will be provided with new content, supplemented with musical instruments, necessary equipment, and technology. The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that we will see the first results in the near future.

 

Program director Artyom Harutyunyan, director of the R. Melikyan State Music College of Yerevan Varazdat Khachumyan, and pianist, Honored Artist of Armenia, invited expert of the program Hayk Melikyan welcomed the launch of the program and emphasized the importance of its implementation, stating that it will ensure high efficiency of the educational process and sustainable improvement of the quality of education.
