YEREVAN, JUNE 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian chess school has suffered a heavy loss. International Grandmaster Karen Asrian died suddenly on June 9 - at the height of his powers, at the age of 28. He was born in Yerevan, graduated from the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture, was a champion of Europe, champion of the World Chess Olympiad, and winner of numerous prizes. K. Asrian was awarded a Movses Khorenatsi medal.
