YEREVAN, JUNE 7, NOYAN TAPAN. An international rapid chess tournament "Chess Giants" will be held in Yerevan on June 8-16 with the participation of 8 famous chess players: Levon Aronian, Vladimir Hakobian, Gabriel Sargsian (Armenia), Alexander Morozevich (Russia), Peter Leko (Hungary), Michael Adams (UK), Boris Gelfand (Israel) and Bu Xiangzhi (China). The prize fund of the tournament is 262 thousand dollars, 70 thousand dollars of which will be given to the winner. Those to take 2nd and 3rd place will receive 50 thousand and 40 thousand dollars respectively. The opening ceremony will take place at Tigran Petrosian Chess House, while games will be held in the building of Alexander Spendiarian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In parallel with "Chess Giants", another open rapid chess tournament with a prize fund of 33 thousand dollars will be organized on June 12-15. The winner will receive 6 thousand dollars.
