YEREVAN, JUNE 6, NOYAN TAPAN. At the June 5 sitting, the Armenian government approved Karen Demirchian Subway CJSC's 2008-2012 program of improvement measures. According to Yerevan mayor Yervand Zakarian, this year 1.7 bln drams (avout 5.5 mln USD) was allocated for the subway. These allocations will be used to repair trains and "Yeritasardakan" subway station and to raise salaries. The mayor said that it is planned to take a number of measures in the next few years to ensure safe and efficient operation of the subway. In his words, no serious investments have been made in the subway since 1981.
