TAX REVENUES OF STATE BUDGET GROW BY 30.1% IN JANUARY 2008

YEREVAN, MARCH 8, NOYAN TAPAN. In January 2008, tax revenues of the state budget made 37.8 bln drams (about 123.2 mln USD), as as result of which the quarterly program was fulfilled by 32%. The tax revenues grew by 30.1% or 8.7 bln drams as compareed with the same month of 2007. According to data of the RA ministry of finance and economy, the VAT revenues amounted to 20.8 bln drams, making up 55.1% of tax revenues. Out of this amount, 12.4 bln drams was received from taxation on the country's border, 8.4 bln drams - from domestic turnover of goods and services. VAT revenues of the state budget increased by 30.2% or 4.8 bln drams as compared with the same period of 2007. There was a growth in taxes from both imports and domestic turnover. Excise taxes of the total amount of 3.3 bln drams made up 8.7% of the tax revenues of the state budget. In particular, 2.4 bln drams was received from taxation of excise tax liable goods imported into Armenia, including 1.2 bln drams from taxation of imported gasoline and diesel fuel and 785 mln drams - from taxation of imported cigarettes. Budget revenues from taxation of domestically produced goods liable to excise tax made 888.3 mln drams, including 522.2 mln drams from sale of domestically produced cigarettes. Excise tax revenues grew by 49.2% or 1.1 bln drams as compared with January 2007, which is mainly conditioned by an increase of taxes on imported gasoline and revenues from domestically produced and imported cigarettes.
