YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, NOYAN TAPAN. The International Road
Transportation's Regional Custom-House is the only customs body
in Armenia to have completely passed to the self-declaring
system, as a result of which the number of those engaged in
foreign economic activities through the custom-house has
increased. In the words of the head of the Customs Tariffs and
Registration Unit of the Regional Custom-House Gevorg Saghoyan,
the number of those engaged in foreign economic activities
through the custom-house has increased by about 75% in the past
two years. The number of deals concluded by them has also grown:
in the first 10 months of 2005, about 3,000 deals were
registered, in 2006, this index made about 3,600, while in the
same period of 2007 - about 5,100.
G. Saghoyan said that a growth in customs revenues
collected by the customs-house has been registered.
Particularly, in 10 months of 2005, customs revenues of 5
billion 482 million drams were collected, in the same period of
2006 - revenues of 6 billion 217 million drams, and in the first
ten months of this year, customs revenues made 10 billion 454
million drams.
According to him, commodity turnover with European
countries is mainly done through the custom-house, and
statistical data of the past two years shows that previously old
conveyers were mostly imported into Armenia with the aim of
establishing local production, where new ones are imported now,
and their imports have considerably grown.
