YEREVAN MAYOR'S OFFICE IMPLEMENTS WORK OF 19 BLN 256 MLN
DRAMS IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2007

YEREVAN, MAY 2, NOYAN TAPAN. In 2007, Yerevan mayor's
office will implement work of 83 bln 718 mln drams (about 249
mln USD). The mayor Yervand Zakarian said at the May 2 press
conference that work of 19 bln 325 mln drams was done in the
first quarter of 2007 under the social and economic program of
the mayor's office, work of 3 bln 256 mln drams - under the
program of disrict communities.
According to the mayor, the RA government-approved Master
Plan envisages developing the zoning projects of all Yerevan
communities. He said that the zoning project of Kentron
community is already prepared, while those of Arabkir, Ajapniak,
Davitashen and Nork-Marash comminities will be developed by late
2007. The zoning projects of all Yerevan communities will be
completed in 2008.
Y. Zakarian noted that this year it is envisaged to
reinforce eight 3rd degree accident-prone apartment buildings.
4 apartment buildings will be constructed as housing
compensation for residents of 4th degree accident-prone
buildings.
In the words of Y. Zakarian, development work will start in
the 30th district of the city within the next few months. The
mayor underlined that in built-up zones, new apartments will be
offered first of all to former residents of these areas. Those
who refuse to receive housing compensation will be offered
monetary compensation.
The mayor said that Leningradian Street and a section of
Malatia-Sebastia Street will undergo major repairs. Pedestrian
subways and crossings will be constructed at the crossroads of
Heratsi - Koryun - Nalbandian - Charents Streets, in Isakov
Avenue and in Myasnikian Avenue near the Botanical Gardens.
Construction of an underground motorway at the crossroads of
Khanjian and Tigram the Great Streets will start in the 2nd
quarter of this year.
It was noted that repairs of the roofs and heating systems
of 9 comprehensive schools in Yerevan will be carried out this
year. Thus 100 out of the 212 comprehensive schools under the
jurisdiction of Yerevan mayor's office will have their
boiler-houses for heating. Heating systems of the remaining
schools and kindergartens will be restored in the next three
years.
