YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. "There is no definite
cultural policy in our country." The RA Minister of Culture and
Youth Issues Hasmik Poghosian made this statement at the March
16 press conference. According to her, since Armenia's
independence, the cultural policy has been aimed at preservation
of cultural values rather than development of culture.
H. Poghosian said that the ministry has developed the
2008-2013 state strategical program on development of culture,
which will be submitted soon to the Armenian government. In the
minister's words, in case of the program's approval, "there will
be a great revolution in the sphere of culture and a shift from
the conservative regime to the regime of development."
