TOTAL PROFIT OF COMPANIES OF RA MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AND
COMMUNICATION MAKES 758.9 MILLION DRAMS IN 2006

YEREVAN, JANUARY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. In 2006, the companies of
the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication received revenues
of 14 bln 367.8 mln drams (about 50 mln USD) against 12 bln
923.5 mln drams in the previous year (a 12.2% growth). The
Armenian Railway company accounted for 10 bln 900 mln drams of
the indicated sum, the road construction companies - 457.7 mln
drams and the companies of the communication sector - for 2 bln
465.9 mln drams. According to the report submitted to the
Armenian prime minister on January 23, almost all companies of
the ministry operated at a profit which made 758.9 mln drams.
By the report, social conditions of the sector's employees
improved to some extent - their average monthly salary increased
by 36% to 61,220 drams.
Last year, road construction and operation work of 10 bln
757.6 mln drams was done on 40 road sections of the total length
of 228 km. Besides, 22 bridges were repaired, including 3
bridges on interstate roads, 3 - on republican ones and 16
bridges on roads of local importance.
Fulfilment of state budgetary obligations improved as well.
The companies paid taxes of a total of 2 bln 412.2 mln drams to
the state budget in 2006 compared with 1 bln 734.1 mln drams in
the previous year.
