On July 19, Lyon Park, symbolizing Yerevan-Lyon friendship, opened at Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan. The Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan and the Mayor of Lyon Gérard Collomb cut the red ribbon. The park opened within the framework of the 2008-2011 cooperation program, signed between the city halls of Yerevan and Lyon. The works for the reconstruction of the park started in 2010. The reconstruction will continue by the second round. The mayor of Yerevan expressed confidence that the park would become one of the favorite places for people in Yerevan. "This park is a very good example of the cooperation. I am sure that the programs we intend to carry out here will promote to make the park one of the best corners of Yerevan. This is the end of this stage, but it is the start of another one," Karen Karapetyan said. In his turn, the Mayor of Lyon said, “It is a very beautiful park. I think that the opening of this park can be the start of new programs. French people love Armenian very much and today these friendly relations become stronger.”
