IT IS ENVISAGED TO CARRY OUT CAPITAL REPAIRS OF 76 YEREVAN

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 11, NOYAN TAPAN. Construction and repair
work of 9 bln 700 mln drams (about 22.8 mln USD) was done in
Yerevan this year. Frunz Basentsian, Head of the the
Construction, Improvement and Municipal Economy Department of
Yerevan Mayor's Office, stated this at the December 11 press
conference.
According to him, an irrigation network of the total length
of 70 km was repaired, and the external lights of 15 streets
were restored. 65% of the city's streets are now illuminated,
while next year, as F. Basentsian said, the external lights
throughout the city will be restored.
He noted that 750 mln drams was spent to reinforce eight
accident-prone buildings of 3rd category in the city. Next year
another 8 buildings will be reinforced.
In his words, the programmed work on the second stage of
Hrazdan gorge's improvement - from the Kievian Bridge to Arabkir
gardens - has been completed, and the capital repairs of Isakov
and Terian Streets will finish by late December. He stated that
in 2007 it is envisaged to carry out capital repairs of 76
streets.
The department head said that asphalt laying of 720
thousand sq.m. and restoration of an irrigation network of 70 km
was done with resources of the mayor's office and communities,
for which 250 mln drams was allocated.
