On July 20, co-rapporteur on Armenia of the Monitoring Committee in PACE Axel Fischer met the secretary of RA NA ARF fraction Artyush Shahbazyan and the member of the fraction Hrayr Karapetyan. As it is mentioned on the official website of the RA National Assembly, touching upon the dialogue between the Armenian National Assembly and authority, ARF delegates welcomed it. However, the theme of the dialogue was not clear to the delegates. According to the Deputies the early elections will lead to instability. The ARF fraction, being in the opposition field, today rules two parliamentary committees and together with its 16 deputies makes all its concern and views be heard. During the meeting they touched upon the new variant of the RA Election Code. Although the proposals made by the ARF and “Heritage” fractions on the Code weren’t adopted, they are included in some provisions of supervision towards electoral process. Hrayr Karapetyan, as the chairman of the permanent committee of NA Defense, National Security and Inner Affairs, discussed the reforms made in police, particularly the issue of a number of changes in the Code, with the co-rapporteur. According to Axel Fisher it would have been more efficient if the parliament also controlled the reforms made in the field of police.
