YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA National Assembly
on December 5 passed 17 draft laws and legislative packages
discussed the day before. Earlier the adoption of the draft law
on medicines in second reading failed, as the required number of
deputies - at least 66, did not participate in the vote.
Particularly, the parliament adopted in third reading and
completely the legislative packages on automobile roads and
automobile transport and the draft law on granting tax and
compulsory social insurance payment privileges to Charentsavan
Machine-Tool Plant OJSC. By the draft law, the company is
exempted from its tax and compulsory social insurance payment
liabilities as of May 1, 2003 in the amount of its outstanding
liabilities of about 635 mln drams (about 1.7 mln USD) as of May
1, 2006 and fines of 562.7 mln drams. The draft's author - the
government substantiated the adoption of the draft by the fact
that the company has a strategical importance, being the only
basic company that repairs armoured and artillery systems and
carries out technical servicing in troops. So it is expedient to
exempt the company from its debts in order to complete the
process of insolvency and liquidation.
The draft law on relations between the RA and the Armenian
Apostolic Church was passed in first reading, and amendments and
additions were made to the RA law on Restoration of the City of
Gyumri. The last draft envisages to extend the term of the
law's operation until December 31, 2014.
