YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. A number of documents on urban development have been worked out by the Program on Yerevan's Master Plan Measures. The Chief Architect of Yerevan Samvel Danielian said during the November 20 press conference that the drafts of Yerevan's agglomeration (the city's relations with the nearby marzes) and the draft territorial plan of the zone adjacent to the city have been developed. According to S. Danielian, the studies of the technical state of the 40 most endangered monuments in Yerevan have been conducted as well. These are not only archaelogical and medieval buildings but also those built in the 20th century like Yerevan's Observatory, the city's hydropower plant and several residential buildings. The Avan district's Catholic, Surb Astvatsatsin, Tskhakan, Surb Hovhannes Churches, and the Karmir Bridge in the area of the Wine Factory are also included in the list. S. Danielian noted that another 950 monuments in Yerevan need to be further studied. In the words of the chief architect, the program envisages construction of underground and street crossings. The studies show that first of all underground crossings must be built at the crossroads of Main Avenue and Khanjian Street, in Myasnikian Avenue near the Botanical Garden, and in Azatutian Avenue near Victory Park. He said that in 2007, 1 billion 117 million drams (about 2.9 million USD) will be allocated from the state budget for implementation of the Program on Yerevan's Master Plan Measures.
