YEREVAN, OCTOBER 10, NOYAN TAPAN. In Janaury-August 2006, Armenia's gross agricultural output made 294.6 bln drams (about 677 mln USD), which is less by 6.9% compared with the same period of last year. According to the RA National Statistical Service, the gross agricultural output grew by 15.5% in August on July 2006 in comparable prices. The gross output of plant cultivation made 164 bln 835.7 mln drams in January-August 2006, declining by 15.1% on the same months of 2005, while the gross output of livestock farming amounted to 129 bln 809.9 mln drams, growing by 6.2%. The production of main livestock farming products, except eggs, grew in the period under review: meat and poultry production exceeded by 12.9% or 7.2 thousand tons, milk production - by 5.8% or 28.8 thousand tons the level of the same period of 2005. Fish catching made 1 bln 223.6 mln drams in January-August 2006, exceeding by 47.1% the respective index of last year.
