YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, NOYAN TAPAN. The current state and
development prospects of cooperation between Armenia and Romania
in trade, industry, agriculture, small and medium business,
transport and tourism were discussed at the second meeting of
the Armenian-Romanian intergovernmental commission on trade,
economic, scientific and technical cooperation on October 4.
According to the PR Department of the RA Ministry of
Transport and Communication, although a considerable growth of
commodity turnover between the two countries has been registered
in recent years, there is much potential for further development.
Particularly, in 2005, the commodity turnover between Armenia
and Romanu made 6 million USD, and during the first seven months
of this year goods of 5.6 million USD were imported from Romania
into Armenia. It is noteworthy that there is no
Armenian-Romanian joint venture in Armenia, while 37 such
enterprises operate in Romania with investments of over 3.5
million USD from the Armenian side.
The Co-chiarmen of the Armenian-Romanian intergovernmental
commission, the Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication
Andranik Manukain and the Romanian Minister of Trade Yulyu
Vincler will sign on October 5 a protocol which will stipulate
the main directions of the economic cooperation between the two
countries.
