YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 7, NOYAN TAPAN. The program of main measures on realization of Yerevan's Master Plan was approved at the September 7 sitting of the Armenian government. Based on the program, it is envisaged to implement about ninety measures in such spheres as architecture and urban development, environmental protection, transport, construction, public utilities, trade and services, health care and social security, education, culture and sports. Among measures to be implemented are the development and approval of the regulations on urban development, the monitoring of measures on realization of Yerevan's Master Plan, the development of programs on exterior design of the city, the creation of an automatic urban development database and keeping of a register on urban development, the development of projects on planting of greenery based on the Master Plan, the construction of new stations of the Yerevan Subway, the development of tourism in the city of Yerevan, the development and location of ambulance stations, the development and implementation of the program on demolition of accident-prone buildings and resettlement in the administrative territory of Yerevan. With the aim of implementing the envisaged measures (work) for each year, the RA Minister of Finance and Economy and Mayor of Yerevan were instructed to discuss jointly the demand for financial resources for implementation of these measures and include it in the draft state budget of the given year. Yerevan's Chief Architect Samvel Danielian told reporters after the sitting that the program is aimed at solving a number of problems that prevent the city's development, particularly at improvement of Yerevan's transport, ensuring the territorial integrity of the city and preservation of its historical and cultural values. S. Danielian said that 580 mln drams (about 1.45 mln USD) will be allocated for design work this year, while allocations for next year will make 1 bln 170 mln drams. According to Yerevan's chief architect, about 70-80 mln USD will be spent on realization of the Master Plan every year.
