ACCORDING TO WORLD BANK'S ANNUAL REPORT, ARMENIA HAS MOST
FAVORABLE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT AMONG CIS COUNTRIES

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN. Taking into account such
factors as ease of registering an enterprise, as well as the
legislation regulating the tax sector and trade relations with
other countries, the most favorable conditions of doing a
business are in Singapore, New Zealand and the US. This is
indicated in the World Bank's annual report "Doing Business
2007" that assesses and compares 10 main indices characterizing
the business environment in 175 countries.
According to the report, among former Soviet republics,
Lithuania and Estonia are in highest places - 17th and 18th
respectively. Among CIS countries, Armenia and Georgia occupy
the leading positions - 34th place (last year 37th) and 37th
place (last year 112nd) respectively, being ahead of such EU
member states as France, Spain, Portugal and Czech Republic.
Turkey is in 91st place, Azerbaijan - in 99th, and Iran is
in 119th place. Russia is in 96th place, and Congo is in the
last - 175th place.
