LEVON ARONIAN IN MIDDLE OF TABLE IN WIJK AAN ZEE TOURNAMENT

WIJK AAN ZEE, JANUARY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. 8 tours have been
held in the chess super-tournament of 19th class taking place in
the town of Wijk aan Zee, Holland. 14 grand masters take part in
the tournament.
Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) and Vishwanathan Anand (India)
are in the lead. Each of them has gained 5.5 points. The leaders
are followed by Andrei Koryakin (the Ukraine), Vasiliy Ivanchuk
(the Ukraine), Boris Gelfand (Israel), Michael Adams (England)
with 4.5 points each. Representative of Armenia Levon Aronian
has gained 4 points and shares 7-9th places. He defeated
representative of Azerbaijan Shahriyar Mammadiarov in the 8th
tour.
After a 1-day interval, on January 24, the games of the 9th
tour will be held in the Wijk aan Zee tournament. L.Aronian will
compete with Sergei Tivyakov (Holland).
