YEREVAN, JANUARY 11, NOYAN TAPAN. FIDE has publicized the personal ratings of the best chess-players of the world, as of 2006 January 1. Representative of Armenia Levon Aronian has considerably improved his position in the list. The winner of the world cup has risen by 5 degress compared with the list publicized 3 months ago and now is the 5th one in the list. Garry Kasparov remains at the top of the list, who however, no longer plays chess. Below is the first ten of the chess-players: 1. Garry Kasparov (Russia, personal rating 2812), 2. Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 2801), 3. Vishvantan Anand (India, 2792), 4. Pyotr Svidler (Russia, 2765), 5. Levon Aronian (Armenia, 2752), 6. Vladimir Kramnik (Russia, 2741), 7.Peter Leko (Hungary, 2740), 8.Vasili Ivanchuk (the Ukraine, 2729), 9. Boris Gelfand (Israel, 2723), 10. Ruslan Ponomaryov (the Ukraine, 2723). Another 2 representatives of Armenia are among the first hundred chess-players of FIDE. Vladimir Hakobian is the 18th (rating 2704), Karen Asrian the 61st (2646). Armenian chess-player representing Slovakia, Sergei Movsisian, also takes a high place: he is the 80th (2632). Judit Polgar (Hungary, 2711) is at lead of the list of the best chess-players of the world with a great advantage. Representatives of Armenia Lilit Mkrtchian and Elina Danielian are also among the best 50 chess-players who are in the 22th (2453) and 33rd (2423) place, respectively.
