MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO COMPOSER MANVEL BEGLARIAN OPENED IN

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. A memorial plaque to composer, RA Honoured Art Worker Manvel Beglarian was opened on November 30 in Yerevan. The author of the memorial plaque is painter and sculptor Gagik Ayvazian. It is placed on the wall of house 11, Marshal Baghramian first lane. The art worker lived in this house in 1954-2002. Composer's friends and relatives, intellectuals were present at the ceremony of opening of the memorial plaque. Singer, RA People's Artist Ophelia Hambartsumian noted that Manvel Beglarian is the author of many songs one can hear on the Public Radio up to this day. The composer carried out a huge work during the years of heading the State Ensemble of Folk Instruments after Aram Merangulian. Thanks to him not only the older but also the younger generation is acquainted with many folk and goosan (Armenian national poet/singer) songs having a history of many centuries. According to singer, RA People's Artist Ruben Matevosian, Manvel Beglarian not only developed the Armenian music and song art but also contributed to the progress of the Ensemble of Folk Instruments. "His beloved ensemble is existing and creating up to this day. M.Beglarian left us many works that have been always performed," R.Matevosian noted. Manvel Beglarian has worked as a violinist in the Symphonic Orchestra of Philharmony for nearly 25 years. He has taught at Romanos Melikian college, then State Conservatory after Komitas. In 1974-92 he was the Art Director and Principal Conductor of Honoured Ensemble of Folk Instruments after Aram Merangulian of State Committee of Radio and Television. The composer has instrumented more than 1000 goosan and folk songs, composed such folk songs as "We are Wandering," "To You, My Homeland," as well as created in symphonic and chamber genres. These works are kept at the record library of Public Radio's fund recordings.
