YEREVAN, November 9 (Noyan Tapan). On November 9, RA NA
approved the bill "On Export and Import of Cultural Values" in
second reading. NA also approved the legislative package
envisaging amendments to a number of current laws proceeding
from the above-mentioned bill. According to the statement made
in advance, the United Labor Party faction didn't participate in
voting. According to Gurgen Arsenian, Head of the faction, their
position is conditioned by the fact that the bill contains
rather serious risks that export of cultural values may become
uncontrollable.
In difference to the law of the same name operating since
1994, which prohibited to export cultural values of 100-year and
more prescription, the new bill prohibits to export works of
culture representing a particular value of cultural heritage.
The list of these works is set up by the government.
It's prohibited to export cultural values constantly kept
in RA state storages, museums, archives, libraries, with the
exception of cases of temporary export.
