YEREVAN, May 6 (Noyan Tapan). The World Chess Council
published the individual rating of the strongest sportsmen as of
May 1.
Garri Kasparov, 13-time world champion (Russia), continues
to top the list, his individual rating is 2764. The individual
rating of Vishvanatan Anand (India) is 2729 (second place).
Alexander Morozevich (Russia, 2706), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia,
2704), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 2694), Peter Lekon (Hungary,
2690), Hudit Polgar (Hungary, 2690), Pyotr Swidler (Russia,
2680), Michael Adams (England, 2677), Nigel Short (England,
2670) also occupy places among the first ten chess-players.
In the rating list of the World Chess Council Vladimir
Hakobian occupies the higher place among the Armenian
representatives. Karen Asrian (69rd place, 2571), Rafayel
Vahanian (75th, 2567), Smbat Lputian (77th, 2566), Gabriel
Sargsian (89th, 2560) are also among the first hundred
sportsmen.
