The 7th international forum Fruitful Armenia opened in the Armenia Marriott Hotel in Yerevan. Opening speeches were made by Armen Gevorgian, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Minister of Territorial Administration, and Sergo Karapetian, Minister of Agriculture. Welcoming the guests participating in this important event, Armen Gevorgian said that the forum already has a special place in Armenia’s economic life and it becomes more efficient, interesting and substantial with each year, involving more and more participants. He also spoke about the start of operation of Zvartnots Airport’s new complex, as well as about the charity programs implemented by Mr. Eduardo Eurnekian, particularly One Computer for Each Child project. “On behalf of the government, I want to thank him for all his initiatives and to wish him good health and inexhaustible energy. I am sure that the activities of people like Eduardo Eurnekian will be infectious for all those in Armenia and the Diaspora who are concerned about prosperity and progress of the Armenian people. I had an occasion to note and I want to underline again his infinite faith in and commitment to Armenia,” Armen Gevorgian said. He expressed confidence that by combining efforts of people like Eurnekian and state bodies, it will be possible to implement programs aimed at turning Armenia into one of regional leaders, including ensuring its efficient agriculture. Following the forum’s opening ceremony, a memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia and the Argentine Industrial Union. The memorandum was signed by Arsen Ghazarian, Chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (on behalf of the Armenian side) and Jose Ignacio de Mendiguren, President of the Argentine Industrial Union (on behalf of Argentinean side). After signing the memorandum on cooperation, Arsen Ghazarian stated that the memorandum is of great importance for increasing commodity turnover between Armenia and Argentina. “For this purpose the two Unions should hold business forums, exchange business delegations, organize exhibitions, and study the investment field”.
