2011-12-13 On December 13, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian who is in Rome within the delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Armenia in Italy met with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi. “I am glad to meet you in Rome and personally congratulate on your appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs. I am confident that we can further deepen through joint efforts the mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries,” said Edward Nalbandian. In the course of the talk the centuries-old history of the Armenian-Italian relations was mutually underlined which is remarkable with good traditions and mutual friendship and all that creates a solid basis for the further strengthening and deepening of the relations. The Armenian and Italian Ministers of Foreign Affairs touched upon the issues related to the development of the Armenian-Italian political, trade and economic and cultural relations and the expansion of legal framework. In the context of cultural exchanges Minister Nalbandian stressed the importance of conducting exhibitions in Rome entitled “Dvin – the Armenian capital between Europe and Asia” and in Venice entitled “Armenia-the stamps of the civilization.” Edward Nalbandian expressed gratitude for the establishment of the rehabilitation centre for cultural values in Armenia by the support of the Italian government. In the course of the talks different directions of the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union and the projects being implemented in the frames of the European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership were discussed. The Ministers of Foreign affairs of Armenia and Italy touched upon regional and international issues. In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nalbandian presented the recent developments in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
