YEREVAN PUSHKIN PARK TO BE DEVELOPED WITH FINANCING OF
DIASPORAN BENEFACTOR ALBERT BOGHOSIAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, NOYAN TAPAN. The Hayastan All Armenian
Fund starts to implement program of development of Yerevan
Pushkin park. As Naira Melkumian, Fund's Executive Director,
said at the October 18 press conference, the program is financed
by member of the Fund's Board of Trustees, one of the heads of
of the Robert Boghosian and Sons Fund, Albert Boghosian, who
allocated 600 thousand dollars. By the way, A.Boghosian will
also finance park's future preservation.
N.Melkumian said that as early as in 2005 the Fund and
Yerevan Kentron Prefect's Office signed a memorandum on park's
development program. In N.Melkumian's words, the author of
park's development project is Swiss Pierre Rambach. The latter
is specialized in park development programs and has a rich
experience. It was mentioned that the project has passed
expertise ans was approved by RA Ministries of Nature
Protection, Urban Development and Yerevan Mayor's Office.
N.Melkumian said that Pushkin park has not been developed
since the 1990-s. The park's total area is 16 300 sq.m., 1500
sq.m. out of which will be developed. Swimming-pools, an
amphitheater, a cafe, a sentry post and a children's
swimming-pool will be built at the park. Within the framework of
main development activities it is planned to cut down only 5
trees subject to sanitary felling. The park entrance will be
free.
