YEREVAN, January 28 (Noyan Tapan). Grandmasters Levon Aronian and Gabriel Sargsian representing Armenia successfully started the international great tournament on chess held in Gibraltar. They registered victories in their two starting games and top the contention with a group of chess players. The tournament has quite a strong staff: such well-known chess players as Alexey Shirov (Spain), Emil Sutovsky (Israel), John Spilpman (England), Alexey Dieev (Russia), Kiril Georgiev (Bulgaria), Kevin Spraget (Canada) are among 121 participants. The prize fund of the Gibraltar international tournament makes 15 thousand pound sterlings, 4,000 of which will be given to the winner. The tournament is held by the Swiss system, with ten rounds and will complete on February 3.
