10th sitting of Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee held in
Yerevan on September 22

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, NOYAN TAPAN. The implementation of
EU-Armenia Action Plan of the European Neighborhood Policy,
issues of deepening the relations between Armenia and the
European Union under the Eastern Partnership Program, including
the prospects of creating a free trade zone were discussed at
the 10th sitting of Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee held in
Yerevan on September 22.
Among the issues on the agenda were problems related to the
rule of law, democracy and government, human rights and
fundamental freedoms, the Karabakh problem settlement,
Armenian-Turkish relations, EU assistance and cooperation.
The Agreement of Partnership and Cooperation between the
European Communities and the Republic of Armenia was signed on
22 April 1996. It took effect on 1 July 1999. In accordance with
its Article 83, Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee was
established, and its sittings are held every year, alternately in
Brussels and Yerevan.
