Japanese Shimidzu Corporation carries out work at
Nubarashen dump for reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases

YEREVAN, JULY 29, NOYAN TAPAN. Shimidzu Corporation (Japan)
is carrying out work at Nubarashen dump for reduction of
emissions of greenhouse gases. NT correspondent was informed by
Head of the Municipal Economy Department of Yerevan Municipality
Gagik Khachatrian that the refuse layer leveling and well boring
work has been completed. The methane will be piped to the
combustion chamber where it will turn into carbon dioxide. The
first phase of the work will finish in late August.
To recap, an agreement on the production of biogas at
Nubarashen dump was signed between the Yerevan Municipality and
Shimidzu Corporation in March. It is envisaged receiving energy
by burning the methane emitted from the dump. By preliminary
estimates, the Japanese corporation will invest 5.5 million
dollars into the project.
