Catholicos of Cilicia Aram I on June 20 had a telephone conversation with the Head of the Tehran Diocese Archbishop Sepuh Sargsyan in order to familiarize himself with the current situation in Iran and conceive its consequences for the Armenian community. According to information received from Antelias Mayravank, Iran's Armenian community in Tehran, Isfahan and other cities has not suffered any losses. The Iranian Armenians continue to be well-organized and vigilant and they are following closely the political developments. His Holiness Aram I asked Archbishop Sepuh Sargsyan to convey his blessing to the religious heads of Isfahan and Tabriz and the Iranian Armenians. To recap, Catholicos Aram I is now in Rome to participate in a special meeting of religious leaders prior to a G8 summit.
