YEREVAN, APRIL 10, NOYAN TAPAN. Turkey's political thought has been divided into two parts in the issue of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, Bargavach Hayastan (Prosperous Armenia) NA faction Secretary Aram Safarian said at the April 10 press conference. In his words, Turkish conservative-nationalist forces connect relations with Armenia with well-known preconditions, renouncing the demand of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, renouncing Karabakh, etc. And other forces in the Turkish ruling elite consider that though the Armenians will never renounce the demand of recognition of the Genocide, they should conduct a dialogue with Armenia. In A. Safarian's opinion, the very two approaches are the reason that Turkish officials now speak of the necessity to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations, now remember that the Nagorno Karabakh problem will hinder the normalization. As A. Safarian stressed it, Armenia from the very start declared its being for establishment of relations with Turkey without preconditions. "Now as a political figure I declare that no political force in Armenia should renounce the demand of recognition of the Armenian Genocide under the guise of improving Armenian-Turkish contacts. Renouncing will cause many problems for us and will endanger the Armenia-Diaspora relations," A. Safarian said. He expressed the hope that the Armenian authorities also understand it. Touching upon the opening of Armenian-Turkish border, the BH representative said that the authorities should prepare state government forces, the Police, national security, and others, adapt their work to the conditions that will be formed as a result of opening the border. According to A. Safarian's prediction, after opening the border the flow of Turkish citizens to Armenia will increase.
