YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. The global economic
crisis has both negative and positive aspects, the member of
"ARF" parliamentary faction Ara Nranian expressed an opinion at
the January 16 press conference. According to him, one positive
aspect is the fall in oil prices, which is especially good for
Armenia, a country that depends completely on the import of oil
and gasoline. A. Nranian said that this circumstance is positive
for Armenia from the political point of view as well. "In recent
months Azerbaijan has been rather quiet in its statements as the
fall in oil prices has delivered a serious financial blow to
this country," the ARF deputy noted.
Besides, in the opinion of A. Nranian, the economic crisis
gives Armenia an opportunity to get rid of the mania of
recording a double-digit economic growth. In his words, the
members of "ARF" faction have always said that the quality of an
economic growth is much more important than its amount. "Armenia
should not be based on one or two pillars. We should develop
several branches of the economy and ensure a qualitative
economic growth," A. Nranian said.
