The director of the National library Davit Sargsyan opened the Library Week with “Typography-eternal presence of knowledge” slogan. Each day of the Library Week has its sense: there are days devoted to the Armenian typography, jubilee events, book presenting and family reading. All the libraries of the Republic of Armenia, which also celebrate the Library Week in their regions, joint them. The director mentioned the aim of the Library Week, that’s to understand the importance of library, to make our society more civilized, to have aesthetically developed society as the level of civilization in our country is directly proportional to that of the existing libraries. Mrs. Sargsyan mentioned not only the aims of the Library Week but also problems and suggested The National Assembly to adopt a law on libraries which will improve the status of the existing libraries. One of the problems of the National library is the consolidation, cultivation and maintenance of all Armenian books and works published all over the world. The anthem of the National library was also chosen on the occasion of the start of the Library Week.
