Experience 5G+ in Yerevan and six regions: Viva announces the launch of Armenia's first and only 5G+ network in Yerevan and the cities of Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, and Aragatsotn. In the next phase of the project, Viva will continue to expand its 5G+ network, ensuring its availability in all cities of Armenia by the end of the year. The 5G+ network will gradually become available in rural communities and other settlements.

The main advantage of 5G+ over previous generations of mobile technologies, as well as traditional 5G, is not limited to just higher speeds, lower latency, and the ability to connect significantly more devices simultaneously on one network.

5G+, which is based on improved network intelligence and advanced 5G capabilities, provides the infrastructure necessary for the development of a new generation of digital services. It enables the implementation of more complex applications powered by artificial intelligence, large-scale IoT deployment, real-time data processing, and comprehensive experiences based on virtual (VR), augmented (AR), and mixed (MR) realities. Thus, 5G+ transforms the network from a communication platform into a foundation for smart digital services and the fourth industrial revolution.

Global experience shows that the widespread implementation of 5G+ has a significant impact on the economy, competitiveness, and digital ecosystems of countries. This strategic vision led to the largest acquisition of radio spectrum resources in Armenia's history by Viva.

Viva now has double the resources, made possible by the largest investment in radio spectrum acquisition in the company's history. Obtaining the license for the use of radio frequencies allocated for 5G has created the necessary foundation for the deployment of a Standalone 5G+ network and the development of next-generation digital services and solutions.

The implementation of the 5G+ network in Yerevan has been carried out with the technological support and solutions of Nokia, while in the cities of Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Kotayk, and Aragatsotn, it has been made possible through the technological support and solutions of Ericsson.
The 5G+ network enables Viva to develop innovative digital services that will be beneficial for both individual subscribers and the business sector.

The greatest economic impact of using 5G/5G+, IoT, and artificial intelligence is expected in the following areas:

industrial robotics
smart manufacturing and predictive maintenance
smart agriculture
smart management of water resources
smart cities
digital twins

5G+ also lays the groundwork for a new generation of digital services. These include smart calls based on artificial intelligence, during which speech can be translated in real-time into the interlocutor's preferred language and accompanied by subtitles displayed on the screen, as well as cloud smartphones, where the device's computational resources and applications are hosted in the operator's cloud infrastructure, enhancing both device performance and the overall user experience.
Global experience also indicates that 5G+ infrastructure can accelerate the development of advanced solutions in autonomous transport, telemedicine, smart manufacturing, and other aspects of the digital economy.

It is also expected that the development of 5G+ will significantly transform the business model of telecommunications operators. Fifth-generation connectivity allows for the deployment of artificial intelligence capabilities directly within the network, providing nearly instantaneous response and improved performance. This approach will enable operators to gradually transition from being connectivity providers to platforms that deliver real-time digital services and artificial intelligence-based solutions.

“We expect that the positive impact of the 5G+ implementation will be reflected in both the improved quality of services provided to individual subscribers and the digital transformation of various sectors of the economy. International experience shows that organizations operating in freight transportation, retail, manufacturing, and smart urban environments can significantly enhance their operational efficiency by implementing IoT, artificial intelligence, robotics, digital twins, and autonomous transport solutions. We are confident that 5G+ will become the main driving force behind the next phase of digital transformation in Armenia,” said Viva's CEO Armen Avetisyan.

“Everyone who becomes a Viva subscriber at service centers in cities and villages with access to the 5G+ network from July 14 to August 14, 2026, will receive a gift of a 50 GB internet package,” added the CEO of Viva.
“Ensuring seamless 5G+ coverage throughout Yerevan was a significant engineering challenge due to the city's complex terrain, which includes both low-lying and high-altitude areas. Our goal was to provide the same high quality of service across all administrative districts, regardless of their geographical characteristics. We are pleased that today 5G+ is available throughout Yerevan, a city where nearly half of Armenia's population lives. This is another important achievement on the path to developing the country's digital infrastructure. We are confident that the infrastructure created in collaboration with Viva will serve as a foundation for advanced connectivity to meet next-generation digital services, including those based on artificial intelligence and innovative solutions that will benefit Armenia's economy and society,” said Erensoy Bilgin, Vice President of Nokia for Central Europe, Turkey, and Central Asia.

“The deployment of the 5G+ network is a crucial phase in the development of Armenia's digital infrastructure. It creates new opportunities for the digital transformation of various sectors of the economy, enabling consumers and businesses to offer innovative services and solutions. The expansion of the 5G+ network in the cities of Armenia's regions will improve access to advanced digital services and contribute to a more balanced digital development of the country. We are confident that this project, implemented in collaboration with Viva, will lay an important foundation for the development of the next generation of Armenia's digital economy,” said Gevorg Ayvazyan, CEO of Ericsson in Armenia.

“With great pleasure, we award Viva the Speedtest award as the company with the fastest mobile network in Armenia for the first half of 2026. Viva's commitment to innovation and excellence in connectivity services is fully reflected in the impressive speeds they provide and their reliable network, and Ookla proudly acknowledges their success,” said Steven Bye, President and CEO of Ookla.
