YEREVAN, OCTOBER 26, NOYAN TAPAN. The opening ceremony of the 90.7-km Kapan-Shikahogh-Meghri alternative motorway took place on October 26 with the participation of the Armenian president Robert Kocharian. According to the president, this alternative motoraway is needed for implementation of big joint projects with Iran in future. The given program, in his words, will have a continuation: the Kapan-Sisian road to bypass the city of Goris will be built. 15 bln 175 mln drams has been allocated from the state budget for construction of the Kapan-Shikahogh-Meghri motorway, which started in 2005. The construction work was done by the following companies: "Tchanshin" (Kapan), "Tchanshin" (Meghri), "Dorozhnik" and "Kapavor" (NKR).
