YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. A memorial complex dedicated to freedom-fighters from the village of Proshian, who have perished in the Artsakh war, has been built in the village of Proshian, Kotayk region, with the financial assistance of Canadian Armenian benefactors Nikol and Zabel Abrahamians. The memorial has been projected by architect Telman Gevorgian. Vahan Hovhannisian, the RA National Assembly Vice-Speaker, mentioned at the September 23 ceremony of memorial's unveiling, that this is one more evidence of the fact that the Armenian people not only has not forgotten its heroes, but also does its best to keep their names bright in generations' memory. "These people have perished not for their village, but for the Armenian people and state," V. Hovhannisian said adding that today also the Armenian people is so efficient that can rise and defend the homeland's borders at any moment. According to Hrach Muradian, the village Head of Proshian, for 15 years the residents of Proshian had been waiting for memorial's construction, but it was delayed for various reasons. "The future generations, coming to this pantheon, once more will realize the price, at which Artsakh has been liberated. We are proud of our heroes, and glory to the people, which does not forget its heroes," he said. By the way, the Canadian Armenian Abrahamians' family that has settled in the village of Proshian implements a number of charity programs in Armenia. A sports school is being built in Proshian, village's medical center is being repaired, reconstruction measures of village's kindergarten and school will also start soon with their assistance.
