YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, NOYAN TAPAN. Iranian cultural days
are for the first time envisaged to be held in Armenia in 2008
at a governmental level. This information was provided to a
Noyan Tapan correspondent by Hasmik Poghosian, the RA Minister
of Culture.
In the words of Hasmik Poghosian, this agreement was
reached at the beginning of September, when the Armenian
delegation at the invitation of the Iranian side took part in
the conference dedicated to the Human Rights and Cultural
Diversity, which was held in Tehran on the initiative of 120
non-united countries. A fund of Cultural Diversity was founded
in Tehran at the end of the conference.
The Minister of Culture mentioned that numerous measures
dedicated to Iranian culture have been organized in Armenia,
however, Iranian cultural days have never been held at a state
level before. "Therefore, we came to an agreement with the
Iranian Minister of Culture to organize that necessary cultural
measure," he said.
In the words of the Minister, irrespective of the fact that
the contract term of the cultural cooperation between Armenia
and Iran is over this year, a visit of an Iranian delegation is
expected to Yerevan in October - November, during which a new
contract will be signed and the distinct schedule for holding
Iranian cultural days will be decided.
