YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, NOYAN TAPAN. Gazprom company
(Russia) will deal with the issue of exporting electricity from
Armenia to Turkey only after it buys the remaining four power
units of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant from Russian company
RAO UE. NT correspondent was informed about it by Valery
Golubev, the chairman of the board of directors and a
shareholder of ArmRusgazprom company, deputy chairman of the
management committee of Gazprom OJSC.
In his words, it does not matter where electricity
generated at the Hrazdan TPP will be sold. According to his
information, electricity prices are quite high in Turkey. He
also considered it natural that it will become necessary to
unite the power supply systems of Armenia and Turkey in the
future.
V. Golubev reminded that the Armenian prime minister has
proposed his Russian counterpart that four power units of the
Hrazdan TPP be transferred to Gazprom. Now this issue is being
agreed on with Russian ministries.
To recap, the four power units of the Hrazdan TPP were
given to Russia under the Property for Debt program, while the
5th power unit was transferred to Gazprom against leaving the
price of gas supplied from Russia to Armenia at the same level -
110 USD for 1,000 cubic meters in 2006-2008.
