YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, NOYAN TAPAN. Discussion of the RA
law "On Creative Unions" is envisaged at the RA National
Assembly soon. Levon Ananian, the Chairman of the Armenian Union
of Writers, stated this at the September 13 discussion.
According to him, the adoption of the law will enable the
creative unions functioning in Armenia to receive a status
differing from that of NGOs.
L. Ananian said that a Coordinating Council of seven
creative unions functioning in Armenia has been created.
According to the Chairman of the Armenian Union of Writers,
issues regarding high property taxes determined for buildings
belonging to these unions have been discussed during a meeting
with RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsian held lately.
In the opinion of Rita Sharoyan, the Director of the Hayart
cultural center, creative unions' functions and commitments
should be expanded. "The unions should form today's culture
and public opinion, meanwhile suspending spreading of
defective cultural products," she said.
It was also mentioned that 57m drams (nearly 162 thousand
USD) has been allocated from the 2007 RA state budget for the
reconstruction of the building of the Armenian Union of Writers.
It is envisaged that the reconstruction measures will finish
next year.
