DAYS OF RUSSIAN SPEECH START IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. A document securing the agreement on friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance was signed on September 12 between the Armenian and Russian Unions of Writers. Days of Russian Speech were officially opened in Armenia with this ceremony. Levon Ananian, the Chairman of the Armenian Union of Writers, said that the agreement has been operating for nearly 10 years, and rather much work has been done within these years, in particular, in the direction of translating Russian and Armenian multi-genre works. "The Russian Association for Friendship and Cooperation in every way contributes to restoration of literary, information exchanges between the two countries. We have brought a number of books here for that purpose, which will prove that literature and poetry have a future in our countries. It is through literature that we should have especially close contacts with one another," Viktor Krivopuskov, the Head of the Russian delegation, the Chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cooperation with Armenia, emphasized. Nikolay Pereyaslov, the Secretary of the RF Union of Writers, said that though meetings of Armenian and Russian writers are not frequent, they are usually productive. According to him, literary contacts between Russian and Armenian peoples become possible thanks to sincere and mutually beneficial cooperation. Various events dedicated to the Russian language, strengthening of literary, information contacts between Armenia and Russia will be held until September 17. Days of Russian Speech have been organized by the Russian Association for Friendship and Cooperation with Armenia.
