YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. In order to improve the
public transport sphere of Yerevan, first of all microbuses
should be replaced by big and medium-capacity buses. As Deputy
Yerevan Mayor Kamo Areyan reported at the February 13 press
conference, currently 253 big and medium-capacity buses operate
in Yerevan, 151 of which are Bogdan buses.
In K. Areyan's words, another 800 buses should be brought
in order to reduce the number of nearly 3300 microbuses
operating in Yerevan. In his words, they work in the direction
of replenishing Yerevan public transport park with the above
mentioned number of buses in the coming three years. This year
it is planned to bring 150 buses, for which 1.7 bln drams will
be allocated.
The Deputy Mayor stated that though nearly 100 stop
pavilions with route numbers and signs were placed last year in
Yerevan, nevertheless, public transport means continue parking
outside of stops. In K. Areyan's words, the Mayor gave the
respective instruction to the Traffic Police in this connection.
