YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. The company ArmenTel,
which still keeps its monopoly positions in Armenia's
telecommunication sector, intends to disconnect the connection
of the companies providing IP services. ArmenTel's Director
General Oleg Bliznyuk informed reporters about it on January 16.
He said that according to licence No 60, provision of IP
services is ArmenTel's monopoly, which was also re-confirmed by
the recent decision of the RA Public Services Regulatory
Commission.
Qualifying the operation of about 300 IP companies in
Armenia as illegal, O. Blisnyuk at the same time noted that
ArmenTel is ready to sign dealer agreements with them, which will
allow these companies to provide IP services legally. He denied
the rumors that by removing competition, ArmenTel will increase
IP service tariffs.
