ANOTHER 100 BUSES AND 20 TROLLEY-BUSES TO BE BROUGHT TO
YEREVAN IN 2007

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, NOYAN TAPAN. 18-20 thousand cars are
brought to Armenia every year, 15 thousand out of which are
brought to Yerevan. As Slava Avanesian, Deputy Yerevan Mayor,
reported at the November 27 press conference, at present, in
total, there are 155-160 thousand cars in Yerevan. In his words,
there are 18-20 thousand taxis in Yerevan, but only 5700 or
35-37% out of them are registered in tax bodies.
S.Avanesian said that next year Yerevan's public transport
park will be replenished with about 100 big buses, as well as
20 trolley-buses. Yerevan Mayor's Office also plans to
bring 20 trolley-buses annually until 2010.
The Deputy Mayor said that 80 stop pavilions with numbers
of routes have been already placed in Yerevan and another 220
will be placed next year. In his words, besides placing stop
pavilions, Yerevan Mayor's Office and Police employees establish
control for public transport means to park only at stations. It
was also mentioned that about 1100 microbuses enter Yerevan from
the regions every day, they park in the central parts of
Yerevan. In S.Avanesian's words, their stops should be also
changed and moved from Yerevan center to another districts.
