VLADIMIR HAKOBIAN WINS 4th PLACE IN GIBRALTAR TOURNAMENT

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 3, NOYAN TAPAN. Grand master Vladimir
Hakobian, one of the strongest chess-players of Armenia, who now
works as a trainer in Qatar, again began to play after a long
break. Taking part in the large international tournament of
Gibraltar he gained 7 points from the possible 10 ones and
shared the 4-10th places. Thanks to higher tournament
coefficients V.Hakobian took the 4th place.
And the winner of the competition was Kiril Georgiev
(Bulgaria), who gained 8.5 points. Nagle Short (England) and
Emil Sutovski (Israel) sharing the 2nd and the 3rd places fell
behind the winner with one point.
The two pupils of V.Hakobian, chess-players Al Modiaki and
Al Sayed (Qatar), also took part in the Gibraltar tournament.
They played well and gaining the 6.5 and 6 points, respectively,
took the 11th and the 25th places among 122 participants.
