72 FOREIGN CITIZENS STUDY AT YSU FOREIGN CITIZENS' FACULTY

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, NOYAN TAPAN. Currently 72 foreign
citizens study at Yerevan State University Foreign Citizens'
Faculty. This faculty was opened as early as in 1961. Over 6000
citizens of 55 countries have had training in this faculty so
far. 2600 out of them are Diasporan Armenians.
As Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed by the faculty
Dean's Office, the faculty has three chairs, of Armenian
Language, of Foreign Languages, and of Comprehensive Subjects.
Within one academic year students receive the respective
knowledge for getting professional education in Armenian
language in the future.
According to preliminary knowledge in the Armenian
language, students are divided into three groups: those not
mastering Armenian, those having attended a Sunday Armenian
school, and those mastering Armenian. The last group mainly
includes students arriving from Armenian colonies of the
Diaspora.
Besides, Mathematics, Physics, Chemisty, Biology,
Computing Machines and Informatics, as well as Social
Sciences are taught at the faculty.
The study duration is one year, from September 1 to July
30.
