YEREVAN, May 3 (Noyan Tapan). It's already the second year
Armenia participates in the international action organized by
the Ministry of Culture of France in May, in which museums of
different countries take part. The exhibition of the
illustrations of the "Yerkir Nairi" ("Country of Nairi") novel
by Charents opened on May 2 in the House-Museum of Y.Charents.
The exhibition was opened within the framework of the action
entitled "History and Histories." Graphic works of Martiros
Sarian, Ara Bekarian, Juri Baghdasarov, Robert Elibekian and
other Armenian art figures were presented at the exhibition.
According to Lilit Hakobian, Director of the museum, these
works kept in the depositories of the museum for years are
exhibited for the first time. The complete picture of Kars, the
life of the city, the historic-cultural monuments are presented
in the illustrations of the novel. Among them L.Hakobian
especially singled out Martiros Sarian's illustrations, in
which, according to him, the typical description of the
characters of the "Yerkir Nairi" novel is given.
According to Azat Yeghiazarian, Director of the Institute
of Literature after Manuk Abeghian attached to RA
National Academy of Sciences, the novel by Charents is a display
of original artistic thinking. The author presented the public
and political intricate events by satirical means of expression
and unusual denouements.
The "Yerkir Nairi" film of film-maker Marat Varzhapetian
was also shown at the exhibition.
