YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. At the February 16
sitting, the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic
Competition examined the administrative complaint of Amikus
company engaged in drug market. The company had requested
cancellation of the decision about imposing a fine on it for an
anti-competitive agreement.
By a decision of the commission, a fine of 18.4 million
drams (2% of the company's proceeds in the previous year) had
been imposed on Amikus for groundlessly raising the prices of
some essential drugs as a result of reaching an anti-competitive
agreement in September and October 2009. A study showed that the
anti-competitive agreement was reached among 7 big companies
with largest sales in the drug market.
In the opinion of the commission, the facts indicated in
the administrative complaint of Amikus were unfounded, so the
complaint was rejected and the commission's decision remained in
force.
