YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, NOYAN TAPAN. The contract on
construction of four gravity systems (Aygezard, Shenik, Mantash,
and Vardenis) was signed between the Millennium Challenge
Account - Armenia (MCA-Armenia) organization and Arpa Sevan OJSC
on September 22. CEO of MCA-Armenia Ara Hovsepian and Director
of Arpa Sevan Paryur Hakobian signed the contract.
The contract costs $5,512,812.12, with an implementation
period of 20 months.
More than 60 thousand farmers from 23 communities in
Ararat, Armavir, Shirak, and Gegharkunik marzes (provinces) will
benefit from the gravity systems after their construction.
According to a report of MCA-Armenia, the construction of
four gravity systems is one of the key infrastructure components
of Improved Irrigation Project of MCA-Armenia Program - along
with reconstruction of 6 main canals and 17 pumping stations, as
well as improving the irrigation network in over 70 communities
and the drainage system in Ararat Valley.
